Paramount Center
Bright Family Screening Room
Public: $10, Members/Seniors: $7.50, Students: $5ArtsEmerson: The World on Stage presents Election. Student body elections in a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska wreck mayhem in the lives teacher and student alike. Popular high school history and civics teacher Jim McAllister (Matthew Broderick) resents overachiever Tracy Flick (Reese Witherspoon)—the obsessive and manipulative student who got Jim's best friend fired after having an affair with him, and the only candidate for student body president. Under the guise of hoping to establish a more democratic election, Jim convinces varsity football player Paul Metzler (Chris Klein) to run against Tracy. As events spiral out of control, Jim will stop at nothing to prevent Tracy from winning the title.

See artsemerson.org for ticket pricing informationArtsEmerson: The World On Stage presents Hamlet. From Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, a handful of players perform this timeless classic. Hamlet explores political intrigue and sexual obsession, philosophical reflection ("to be, or not to be…") and violent action, tragic depth and wild humor. Capturing the youthful and less jaded aspects of Hamlet's personality rarely seen in more traditional interpretations, in just two and a half hours, this production embraces the theatre of Shakespeare's day. Actors play multiple characters and live music, infusing the performance with a lively energy. Humorous and boisterous, the Globe Company packs an emotional wallop with their inherent theatricality.
