Polling Society reveals race perceptions

February 06, 2014

A poll by the Emerson College Polling Society conducted January 29-31 found public opinion on race relations, opportunity, and discrimination continues to be divided by race.

Findings from the poll were reported by CBS, BET News, and several other media outlets.

The poll was taken as part of Emerson College’s African American Heritage Month activities.

The ECPS poll found 69 percent of African-Americans believe the American judicial system is biased, while only 28 percent of Caucasians believe so.

The poll also asked respondents about the Supreme Court’s recent decision to strike down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act.
