Payne says candidates should explain policy positions during debates

Associate Professor of Communication Studies Dr. Gregory Payne was interviewed for the NPR blog It’s All Politics about whether candidates should go into detail on their policy positions during televised debates. Payne said a good leader should be able to deliver clear and concise explanations of their policies regardless of the medium. “If a student said to me, ‘I would have been able to give you the essence of what that book was about, but you limited me to two pages,’ he would get an F. If you've got two pages, you've got to do your best to get it across,” he was quoted as saying.
