Gup in NY Times for donating book

January 22, 2014

Journalism Professor Ted Gup was featured in the New York Times’ Arts Beat blog January 21 for donating an original copy of How the Other Half Lives to the New-York Historical Society.

The book was published in 1890 and authored by muckraker journalist Jacob Riis, who exposed the squalor of New York’s tenement housing.

Earlier this month, Gup wrote a column for the New York Times explaining how he came across the rare book in a Washington, D.C., used bookstore.
