The Arrival of Emerson’s New Semel Chair in Screenwriting Noted in the Globe

According to Boston Globe “Names and Faces” reporters Mark Shanahan and Meredith Goldstein, the greatest contribution that Emerson’s newly appointed Jane and Terry Semel Chair in Screenwriting, Jay Cocks, has made to the movies doesn’t involve anything he’s written—“he merely introduced Scorsese to Robert De Niro.”
The two-time Oscar nominee will be teaching a weekly seminar at Emerson this fall. Cocks’s screenplays include Martin Scorsese’s The Age of Innocence and Gangs of New York. Uncredited, he has worked on James Cameron’s Titanic and Brian De Palma’s Mission: Impossible.
