Engagement Game Lab featured in Boston Globe
August 12, 2013
Led by Associate Professor Eric Gordon, Emerson’s Engagement Media Lab (EGL) is recognized for its unique use of gaming to promote change, raise awareness, and encourage community engagement.
The Boston Globe highlighted the EGL’s partnership with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre to create a game for residents who live near the Zambia River in Zambia. It’s targeted at getting Zambians better prepared for the river floods that are a way of life there.
The EGL is also collaborating with the Cape Cod Commission, creating a game to involve residents in solving waste-water issues in the region.
In the article, Gordon says, “if we can produce games that are integrated into civic life, then we can create meaningful platforms to make people feel like they can make a difference.”
