October 01, 2012
Visual and Media Arts Professor Harlan Bosmajian was featured in a recent Boston Globe article about the making of the new film “Backwards,” directed by Sarah Megan Thomas. The article describes how Thomas discovered Bosmajian had filmed the rowing scenes in “The Social Network” and asked him to be the director of photography for her debut film about a competitive rower who quits the U.S. Olympic team after discovering she is an alternate. Bosmajian, who worked on the first two seasons of “Mad Men” before beginning his teaching career at Emerson, jumped at the chance to return to filmmaking and used the film as a chance to give three of his students hands-on experience during a six-week shoot in Pennsylvania.
