An Emerson alumnus will play the head of a horse in War Horse, which opens April 14 at the Lincoln Center Theater in New York. The acclaimed play—which was a hit in London—tells the story of an English boy whose beloved horse, Joey, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France during WWI. Ariel Heller ’06 will act as Joey’s “head,” using puppetry techniques to animate the life-size equine character. Heller also plays the role of Topthorn, Joey’s horse friend. Since graduating from Emerson, Heller has acted in Once Upon a Mattress, Urinetown: The Musical, Into the Woods as Rapunzel’s prince, and King Lear, playing the king of France.

Film, theater, music. It was a weekend of events. Crowds flooded the lobbies of Emerson’s Paramount Center and Cutler Majestic Theatre on September 23 for the kickoff of ArtsEmerson's inaugural season.
