    Emerson announces four honorary degree recipients

    Emerson College will award four honorary degrees during the College’s 132nd Commencement ceremonies on Monday, May 14, at the Citi Performing Arts Center’s Wang Theatre.

    An athletic apparel company for Quidditch players, a high-tech DJ service, and a mobile technology business took top prizes at Emerson’s Seventh Annual E3 Expo held April 21.

    On April 22, prior to the performance of Café Variations at the Cutler Majestic Theatre, Jacob Porter ’13 and Brock Bivens ’13 presented the Leonidas A. Nickole Award of Distinction to Broadway actress, singer, and writer Sherie Rene Scott.

  • Students, faculty honored at Gold Key ceremony

    Emerson honored 98 students and 2 outstanding faculty members at a Gold Key Honor Society induction ceremony April 18 in the Semel Theater. About 80 people attended the event.

    Writer and producer for the hit show Dexter and Dorchester native Clyde Phillips talked to Emerson students April 19 about his experiences on the show, and about how they can get “a toe in the door" of the TV writing industry.

  • Maurice Hines is 2012 Waldman Chair

    This year’s Waldman Chair in Theater Arts is acclaimed director and choreographer Maurice Hines. Hines is on campus this week with Visiting Artist Charles Randolph-Wright to teach master classes in Performing Arts and to discuss their collaborations on the celebrated revivals of Sophisticated Ladies and Guys & Dolls.

  • Ten VMA students score in national writing contests

    Seven Emerson students and one recent graduate have won top prizes or scored as finalists in five national writing contests for TV scripts and short film scripts. Two others placed as semi-finalists.
