Gordon Awarded Knight Foundation Grant
Emerson Visual and Media Arts Assistant Professor Eric Gordon has been awarded a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for his project Community PlanIt, a mobile role-playing game combined with social software.

Hurricane Earl: Storm expected to mostly bypass Boston
Hurricane Earl is making its way up the East Coast. The storm is expected to be off the coast of Massachusetts Friday night and completely out of the Boston area by Saturday afternoon. The current forecast predicts some rain showers for Boston but no major wind. We are not anticipating any disruption to our plans for campus move in or the start of classes.

Alexa Jackson joined Emerson on July 27 as the newly appointed associate vice president for human resources.

Rebecca Meyers named director of film programs
Starting this fall, Emerson’s new 170–seat Bright Family Screening Room at the Paramount Center will be programmed by Rebecca Meyers. The Paramount Center also houses the 590-seat main Theatre and the 150-seat Black Box Theatre.

Jay Cocks named Semel Chair in Screenwriting
Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Jay Cocks, whose work includes Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ, The Age of Innocence, Gangs of New York, and Kathryn Bigelow's Strange Days, has been named Emerson’s Jane and Terry Semel Chair in Screenwriting for the Fall 2010 semester.
