Winkler becomes a knight
September 15, 2011
Henry Winkler ’67, who played the Fonz in the classic sitcom Happy Days, was appointed an honorary OBE (Order of British Empire) this week at a ceremony at the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. He received the honor for his educational work on dyslexia in the UK. The actor and children’s author, who was diagnosed with dyslexia as an adult, told the BBC he was “overwhelmed” to have his work recognized. In the past two years, he has toured schools in the UK, talking about the learning disability. Read more about the award and listen to a BBC interview with Winkler »
