Shoes for Soles to benefit day shelter
Emerson Athletics
May 06, 2013
The Emerson community has donated a resounding 154 pairs of shoes to benefit the St. Francis House day shelter in the first week of Emerson Athletics’ Shoes for Soles campaign.
Until May 12, anyone can donate a pair of shoes for an Emerson Athletics team jersey.
Vaughn Calhoun, interim assistant athletic director, spearheaded the campaign.
“Thus far it’s been an incredible turnout by the Emerson community,” Calhoun said. “We came in with a goal of 200 and we’ve reached more than 75 percent of that in the first week alone. Not only does this project showcase the generosity of our students and staff, but it’s exciting to see everyone show such enthusiasm in being able to own and wear Emerson gear and represent their pride in our school.”
Anyone can drop off donations in the Piano Row building, 150 Boylston St., Lower Level 2, or contact Calhoun by email at Vaughn_calhoun@emerson.edu.
