Physics course now offered

January 06, 2014

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is offering a new physics course in the Spring 2014 semester titled “Topics in Science: Physics in Everyday Life.”

Douglas Urban, a new part-time faculty member, will teach the course.

According to Wyatt Oswald, interim chair and associate professor for CSD, the physics course will satisfy the Scientific Perspective general education requirement, and will be of particular interest to CSD majors, as they will need this type of physical science course for professional certification.

“I’m happy we’re able to offer this course because it expands our science curriculum in a new direction,” Oswald said. “It’s called ‘Physics in Everyday Life’ because it explores physics through the objects and phenomena that surround us all the time.”

Oswald said courses such as this are a great way for students to improve skills in critical thinking and problem solving.
