Meet the Class of 2015
September 14, 2011
With 915 freshmen selected from nearly 7,500 applicants, this year’s freshman class is one of the most talented and diverse in Emerson College’s 131-year history.

They include a former cast member of Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy series All That; a paid writer for a leading Harry Potter fan site, mugglenet.com; a rhythmic gymnastics Junior Olympics gold medalist; a winner of a major new filmmaker grant from Panavision; and the founder of an organization that sends people dressed as superheroes to hospitals to entertain terminally ill children.
The first-year students hail from 41 states and 19 countries and 23.3 percent come from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Sixty-seven percent of the Class of 2015 attended public high schools, while 24 percent graduated from independent and parochial schools (and 9 percent attended international schools or were homeschooled). The class’s grade point average is 3.63 (on a 4-point scale).
Members of the Class of 2015—most of them born in 1993—have not known life without the Internet, and were born as Amazon.com began to dominate online retail, according to the annual Beloit College Mindset List.
