Two videos edited by Emersonians Max Wagenblass ’09 and Nicole Prowell MA ‘08 are in the current edition of the National Design Triennial in the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York City, titled Why Design Now? The videos include footage shot by Prowell on her trip to the Philippines last year. The exhibition, which was featured in a recent New York Times article, explores the work of designers focusing on human and environmental issues that are experienced across many fields of design practice. According to the article, “Design as defined here isn’t about how to make the House Beautiful more beautiful; it’s about how to keep the globe afloat and ensure that all its occupants have access to a healthy patch of it.” The exhibit runs through January 2, 2011.
