President Lee Pelton, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, and presidents from several Massachusetts colleges will gather at Emerson on Monday, February 6, to discuss innovative higher education programs aimed at preparing students to thrive in today’s economy.

Following the private meeting, Pelton, Duncan, and Kerry will meet with students for an hour-long question and answer session in the Jackie Liebergott Black Box Theatre at 1:00 pm. Seating will be limited. Students who would like to attend should RSVP to rsvpevents@emerson.edu and plan to arrive at the event between 12:30 and 12:45 pm.

“I welcome the opportunity to convene this important conversation with Secretary Duncan, Senator Kerry, and several of my local college president peers,” said Pelton. “Of course, the issues of access, affordability, and work force are much on the minds of students and families. I am very pleased that this event will allow our students to speak directly with key government officials who approve legislation and develop policies that affect their lives.”
