Demski is AVP for research, creative scholarship

March 12, 2012

Elizabeth Demski will take on the newly created position of associate vice president for research and creative scholarship, President Lee Pelton announced this week. Demski served as assistant dean of graduate studies at the College for the past year and has worked with faculty on several grant initiatives.

In her new role, Demski will provide vision and strategic leadership for the College’s research and creative missions as Emerson builds its external funding base, expands its reputation for scholarly and creative excellence, and strengthens its commitment to practice-based research and creative scholarship.

Liz Demski is the new associate vice president for research and creative scholarship at Emerson.

“Liz is highly qualified to lead this important endeavor, having had more than 20 years of similar experience with increasing levels of responsibility,” said Pelton. “Her experience and the contacts that she has built throughout her career will enable her to offer creative strategies to attract financial support for the College. I expect her to be both a catalyst and guiding force as the College develops the new Office of Faculty Research and Creative Scholarship.”

"I’m so pleased that Dr. Pelton has made it a priority to strengthen the support and infrastructure for faculty research at Emerson," said Demski. "I’m excited because this investment recognizes the substantive research and creative scholarship already taking place on campus and ensures more opportunities for faculty to secure external funding to advance their research. I look forward to being able to work with them on a dedicated basis.”

Before coming to Emerson, Demski worked for Saint Anselm College, University of North Carolina Wilmington, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Demski will report to Vice President for Academic Affairs Linda Moore.
