A snow-covered Boston Public Garden.
Baby, it’s cold outside!
Well, depending on where you are, that is.
As Emerson students enjoy a break from classes for the next two weeks, they’re expressing their weather woes, and delight, on Emerson College’s Facebook page—from all over the globe.
“85 (degrees) from Bangkok!!! Yay!!!” wrote Sirimas Panchana.
“85 and sunny in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica!” wrote Courtney Thunder Morris.
“It was -5 degrees F in Monson, MA, this morning,” wrote Joanne Paquin.
“-20 in northern New Hampshire,” Alexandra DePalma wrote.
At the Emerson campus in Boston, the morning low was 8 degrees on January 3 but the wind chill made the air feel below 0, according to reports on Boston.com and WHDH. By 2:00 pm Thursday, the temperature was 21 with a wind chill of 7.
“It’s 55 in Izmir, Turkey. We’ll send you guys some sunshine :-)” wrote Serra Izmiroglu.
Boston was about 15 degrees below an already chilly normal, but the Hub’s frigid weather is less out of whack than in other parts of the country, including the Southwest, report some Emersonians.
“Sunny, clear skies, 44 degrees F in Sin City,” wrote Lisa Skurow from Las Vegas, Nevada, around 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
“43 in Southern California,” wrote Keith Fraissinet around the same time.
Our friends in the Sunshine State, including Donna Zanni Washburn, report mild temperatures. “70 degrees in the oldest city in the nation — St. Augustine, Florida — but getting colder by the minute,” she wrote.
Faring better a little farther south was Andrea Leyland, who wrote, “80 (degrees), not a cloud in the sky and getting warmer in South FL :-)”
We wish all Emerson students a fun, happy, and safe break. We look forward to your return to classes January 16!
