Outside Resources
Here is a list of resources outside of the college community
- Production Resources
- A list of local film, video, and audio production resources including rental and post houses as well as sites that list freelancers in the area and equipment for sale.
- Networking Sites
- A list of websites where media makers can post to messageboards announcing events, seeking advice, and connect with professionals in their chosen field. They also highlight workshops and networking events in the area.
- Independent Cinemas
- A list of the cinemas screening independent, foreign and arthouse fare. Most of these theatres offer substantial student discounts or student memberships. Sign up for their mailing list to get weekly updates on what's playing and information on special events.
- Independent Video Stores
- A list of independently owned video rental and sales shops. The owners are usually film people who are knowledgeable about what's out there and usually all too happy to accommodate special orders.
- Area Film Festivals
- A list of local festivals that you should be looking at first when deciding where to send your project. These festivals are always looking for interns and volunteers. Offer your services as a videographer, photographer, or web administrator and you will be rewarded with an insiders view on an important event and plenty of opportunities to network.
- Internet Competitions and Screening Opportunities
- A list of on-line sites to submit your work. Many of these sites offer cash prizes. Get your work and seen and earn some money for your next project.
