Due to content and licensing restrictions, remote access to library databases is available only to currently enrolled Emerson students, faculty, and staff. Most public libraries offer remote access to databases with a valid library card. Contact your local public library for additional information and resources. Alumni Gifts to the Library
Our thanks to:
Members of the Class of 1950, who raised almost $40,000 for the new library. Three study alcoves next to the Presidents Room are named for this class.
Paul Hughes, member of the Class of 1950, who contributed $10,000 to the new library. The Paul Hughes group study room is named in appreciation of his gift.
The Class of 1978, whose 25th reunion gift will support the exhibition of artwork in the library.
Memories of the Library
If you graduated from Emerson before 1999, you may remember previous libraries...
The fourth floor of 130 Beacon was the home of the library from 1933 until 1960.
The Abbot Memorial Library at 303 Berkeley Street, incorporating the top floor of 145 Beacon Street with the Media Center in the basement of 143 and 145 Beacon, served as the library from 1961 until 1982.
In 1982 the library moved to Governors' House at 150 Beacon, a beautifully renovated space that allowed for growth of the collections for nearly 20 years. The classic Mahogany Room was a favorite study space, and the house's elegant second-floor ballroom became a beautiful reference room. In 1995 the Media Services Center moved across campus to the Ansin Building.
And in September 1999, the up-to-date Emerson College Library opened in its new space in the Walker Building.
