Reference Computers Use Policy

Emerson College students, faculty, and staff have first priority for use of the Library's 23 computer workstations for research purposes. Because of high demand for these computers, Microsoft Word is not available on them for editing. However, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Viewers are available for viewing and printing documents to the Library's print stations. For non-research-related purposes (checking non-course-related email, general web surfing, etc.), please use one of the 20 computers in the Library classroom when they are not in use for class instruction.

No Library computer may be used for illegal or unethical activities. See the College's Electronic Information Policy Guidelines for Responsible and Ethical Behavior for more information.

Students who damage a Library computer will be held financially responsible for replacing the computer or parts. No personal software may be installed on any Library computer. Students found changing or deleting software or computer settings (for example, video graphics, Windows desktop, or browser options) may forfeit their Library privileges.

The Library reserves the right to restrict access to these computers. Food and beverages are NOT allowed near Library computers.
