Blacksmith House Printmakers Exhibit

Soaring Cliffs Woodcut by Selma BrombergPrints by Blacksmith House Printmakers are on display in the Library for the fall 2006 semester. The Blacksmith House Printmakers are a group of accomplished artists in Selma Bromberg’s printmaking classes at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education (CCAE). CCAE, located in a National Historic House in Harvard Square, has been the group’s home for over a decade.

Approximately 25 artists are participating in this exhibit, resulting in a wide range of imagery and approaches. The work reflects a range of styles, from the abstract to the representational. Artists individually create their prints making use of diverse non-toxic methods.  The exhibit features many printmaking techniques, including monotype, printing with stencils, found objects and collagraphs, traditional woodcut and dry point, as well as the newer technique of solar plate etching.

Contributing printmakers include Laurinda Bedingfield, Lucinda Biese, Selma Bromberg, Janet Campbell, Iris Chandler, Christiane Corcelle-Lippeveld, Barbara Cone, Kristen Crowley, Gail Cunningham, Nirit Elany, Irene Fairley, Louise Farrell, Elizabeth Flemings, Karen Futral, Lee Garrison, Tamar Granovsky, Susan Henry, Alexandra Lee, Jane O’Reilly, Sheila Rice, Susan Rice and Leila Zeitler.
