Self Portrait with Green Foliage by Kathryn Lloyd-ComptonPaintings by Kathryn Lloyd-Compton are on display in the Library throughout the spring 2002 semester. Kathryn has a B.F.A. from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and an M.F.A. from Schiller College in Strasbourg, France.

"Painting is something that I've done all my life. In an earlier stage, I found that by adding a grey tint to the palette, my colors became muted and rather like pastel. Subsequently, with a desire to liven up my work, I began to introduce a more vibrant palette to the canvas' surface. Through the years, this is something that I've retained, and I continue to paint in this manner.

"I usually paint from life, observing what I see around me. I try to make no differentiation between the two environments inside and outside. By combining them into one, the atmosphere of the outside becomes closer to my inside surroundings."
