

Welcome Dinner speaker Doug Herzog (’81), former president of FOX Entertainment and Comedy Central and recently named president of USA Network. Herzog kicked off this semester’s theme of comedy by discussing his years at Comedy Central and jokingly referring to his early career at the “Chicken Noodle Network,” otherwise known as CNN.

Patric Verrone, Supervising Producer for the FOX animated show, Futurama, was the inaugural guest of the Toluca Lake Salon Speakers Series. He spoke on the process of creating prime time animation. Verrone, an Emmy-Award winning comedy writer, also discussed everything from his career writing for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show to his work on a variety of animated adult comedies, including The Simpsons.

Toluca Lake Salon speaker, Ed Crasnick, actor and Emmy-Award winning writer, screened an episode of his guest-starring role on the TV series, Just Shoot Me and discussed acting for comedy in film and television. Crasnick traced his career from stand-up comedy to his current work developing a comedic talk show.

President Jackie Liebergott and Emerson LA Executive Director Jim Lane host the first annual Emerson Festival of Film at Paramount Studios. Student filmmakers appeared after the screening for a discussion of their work.
