David AbelPart Time Faculty (2007) B.A., University of Michigan; M.S., Northwestern University A reporter with The Boston Globe, David Abel has traveled throughout the States, Latin America, and Europe, covering everything from homelessness in New England to dissident movements in Cuba to the war in Kosovo. When Abel first moved to Boston in 1999, he covered academia in the region. Over the years, he has written mainly about the region's underclass. Before moving to New England, Abel spent a year in Washington, D.C., covering national security issues. Previously, Abel lived in Cuba, where he was eventually deported for his work writing for the Globe, Christian Science Monitor, Miami Herald, San Francisco Chronicle, and other papers. Abel's career started in Mexico City, where he wrote for a local daily covering the nation's social movements and economic woes. Born and raised in New York, Abel studied political science and philosophy at the University of Michigan and has a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
