teaches African History, African-American History, British History, and World History; elected a 2005 Fellow of the Massachusetts Historical Society; recipient of the1998 Antioch College Arthur Morgan Distinguished Alumni Award; recipient of 1996 Cambridge Peace Commission Peace and Justice Award; member of the Massachusetts Historical Society, Nineteenth Century Studies Association, and World History Association.
