Cindy Miller blends community service and learning so that the service reinforces, improves and strengthens the learning; and, in turn, the learning reinforces, improves and strengthens the service.

Students are challenged to apply their skills and knowledge developed at Emerson to help local non-profit organizations in their missions. Cindy Miller assigns online journals for students to document their reflections on their service learning experiences.

The WebCT site also hosts library readings, web links, and assignment descriptions. At the end of the class, students post their work in video format to the site to demonstrate their service while providing examples for future students.
