The Institute Faculty Speakers Bureau lists full- and part-time faculty members, their areas of scholarly and professional expertise, who teach in the Institute and are interested and available as guest lecturers to classes, consultants to the community, and collaborators on projects.
Stephen ShippsAssociate Professor (1971) A.B., Dartmouth College; Ed.D., Harvard University Dr. Shipps is an arts educator primarily concerned with the nature and history of "art" as a Western cultural institution, and how best to teach about that. He has written and spoken widely about those concerns in both national and international forums. An award-winning teacher, he has been a Fellow of the National Endowment of the Humanities and of the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, and has served as Chair of the Education Committee of the College Art Association. |
