James Byrne
Part Time Faculty (2006)
B.A., University College, Cork; M.A., University College, Cork; Ph.D., University College, Cork

James Byrne's work has appeared in a number of journals, including MELUS and IJAS, and he has recently published a three volume co-edited study, Ireland and the Americas: Culture, Politics, and History. Prior to teaching at Emerson, he taught at the National University of Ireland, Dublin and the University of Dublin, Trinity College, where he was the Irish Research Council of the Humanities and Social Sciences Government of Ireland Fellow from 2004 to 2006. He also was a Fulbright scholar to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2000. Dr. Byrne is currently completing a book on the comparative literary study of Irish American and Jewish American ethnic identity.
