Emerson College offers benefit eligible employees the following transportation services to assist them in their commute to work:

Pre-Tax Transportation Benefit

Emerson College contracts with Crosby Benefit Systems to provide eligible employees the opportunity to purchase their public transportation needs (train, MBTA passes, etc) as well as their parking needs online through payroll deduction, using pre-tax dollars up to IRS limits.

The College will deduct the cost (pre-tax as well as any after-tax, if applicable) of transit and/or parking from your last paycheck each month. Crosby will mail transit passes to your home address. Crosby will mail parking payments directly to the parking provider.  Crosby will reimburse you for your parking expenses when direct payment to your parking provider is not possible.

Below is a brief description of the transit and parking options:

Transit

1. Passes - You will order public transportation passes online for MBTA (i.e. Charlie Card, commuter rail), buses, trains, ferries etc.
2. Commuter Checks - You can purchase a “commuter check” that you can use to pay for commuter expenses where passes are not available (for example, vanpool expenses).

Parking

1. Direct Pay - Crosby makes a monthly payment directly to the parking provider.
2. Parkcheck - If Crosby cannot validate the parking provider information or if you have to pay parking expenses on a weekly or daily basis, then Crosbywill send a payment to you in the form of a “Parkcheck”. You are responsible for providing the Parkcheck to the parking provider.
3. Parking Reimbursement - You pay out-of-pocket for parking expenses (meters, MBTA parking garages, etc.) and then submit a reimbursement claim form to Crosby.  Crosby will send a check directly to you or deposit the reimbursement directly to your bank account.

Please be advised that the College does not reimburse the employee for fare card losses.

Ride-Matching Program

Emerson College, in conjunction with TransAction Ridematching, offers eligible employees assistance in finding a carpool/vanpool partner.

Simply register online for a carpool/vanpool partner. If you do not receive a match (someone who lives in your area traveling to your destination) immediately, you can log back on every week until you do. New people register everyday — don't give up!
