Assistant Manager, Equipment Distribution Center (EDC)

Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Equipment Distribution Center (EDC), the Assistant Manager is responsible for the daily afternoon and evening operation of the EDC encompassing the Video/Audio/New Media Equipment Center and the Film/Photography Equipment Center for the support of the Visual & Media Arts (VMA) and Journalism academic Programs

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the VMA and Journalism programs faculty and students to ensure that the services of the EDC are meeting their needs
  • Work closely with and supervise student employees working in the afternoon/evening shift in the vending of equipment to the VMA and Journalism students
  • Together with the Manager, EDC, responsible for regularly inspection of equipment to ensure it is in proper working order, instructing student employees on how to examine equipment and ensure all items in the kits are in place
  • Provide assistance to the Manager in the operational user-training program
  • Produce equipment operation videos
  • Coordinate the servicing of equipment with TRF Engineering

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree required, preferably in visual and media arts.  
  • Two to four years experience working with video, film, audio and new media equipment. One year of experience as Assistant Manager in related field.
  • Ability to track details, write operational and organizational rules and read and understand technical specifications
  • Hire, train, and evaluate student employees in the operation of the department.
  • Must be a self-starter with ability to work in a high demand and fast paced academic environment.  
  • Must have strong customer service skills, have the ability to relate well to faculty and students needs.
