System/Network Administrator - Temporary Position
Description:
Emerson College is seeking a temporary System/Network Administrator. He/She will assist in the responsibility of the operation and maintenance of Information Technology's servers, storage and campus network.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Perform server operating system and systems software maintenance, upgrades, and backups of 90 existing central servers and 7000 member user base.
- Design, implement and maintain systems scripts for Linux and Windows server administration
- Troubleshoot user account issues
- Daily management, administration and upkeep of hundreds of network devices. Maintain implement and document changes to the College's campus-wide 5000 port LAN. Troubleshoot LAN/server problems as they arise, performing problem resolution and provide on-call support for computer/network systems.
- Oversee network and system security, including management of network devices such as firewalls, PacketShaper, intrusion prevention system.
REQUIREMENTS:
Strong knowledge and experience with the following technologies:
- Linux server administration
- Windows 2003/2008 server administration
- Active Directory
- Perl/shell scripting or similar language for administrative scripting
- System security through auditing, intrusion detection, firewall management
- Ethernet networking with TCP/IP
- VLANS, MLTs, DHCP, packet analysis
- Switch and router configuration
- Virtualization through VMware ESX
