The Office of Housing and Residence Life (OHRL)
The Office of Housing and Residence Life is located in 80 Boylston Street, suite 125. Here you will find the Associate Dean/Director of Housing and Residence Life, the Associate Director of Residence Life, the Associate Director of Housing Operations, the Staff Assistant, the Graduate Assistant of Residence Life and the Graduate Assistant of Housing Operations. The Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The OHRL maintains all housing records including room assignments, contracts, room selection information and residence-life judicial documentation, and has overall responsibility for Housing and Residential Life services and programs.
Residence Director (RD)
The RDs are trained professional staff members who are responsible for the overall supervision of the Housing and Residence Life program in their hall. The RDs have training in counseling, mediation and conflict resolution, judicial affairs, programming and other related disciplines. The RDs act as advisors, respond to emergency situations, administer judicial cases, mediate conflicts, advise hall council and supervise the Resident Assistants (RAs) and mail/front desk operations. Make an effort to get to know your RD, as he/she is willing and able to enhance the quality of community living in your hall and encourage your growth and development as an individual.
Your RD maintains scheduled office hours within the residence hall and is available to talk to you about problems or concerns you may be experiencing. The RD is also available if your RA is unable to assist you in a matter.
Who We Are
Central Staff
Dave, a native of Burlington, Iowa, has a Masters degree in Counselor Education and Educational Psychology from Kansas State University and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Truman State University. He currently serves as the Associate Dean/Director of Housing and Residence Life, and is responsible for the overall management of the Department, including staffing, services, programs, and facilities. Before pursuing a career in student services, Dave managed a movie theatre.
Mary Wegmann, Associate Director of Housing Operations
Mary, a native of Phoenix, Arizona by way of Lawrence, Massachusetts, has a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration from Boston University and a Bachelors degree in Speech Communication from Northern Arizona University. She is responsible for coordinating all housing assignments, room changes and housing selection. On a lighter note, Mary once hiked the Grand Canyon and loves ice cream.
Seth Grue, Associate Director of Residence Life
Seth, a native of Pelham, New Hampshire, has a Masters degree in Higher Education from University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelors degree in Marine Biology from Rodger Williams University. He is the Associate Director for Residence Life and works closely with the Professional and Resident Assistant staff to provide ongoing educational and community programming throughout the residence halls including the Learning Communities. He coordinates the selection and training of all the Resident Assistants leadership position for the Boston campus. The RAs are supervised by professional masters level live in Resident Directors, three of whom he supervises.
Brad Hinton, College Conduct Coordinator
Brad, a native of Iowa Falls, Iowa has a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Central College. He works closely with OHRL, his office (Office of Student Conduct) is responsible for the administration of the College’s student conduct system. Also, as an OHRL central staff member, he assists with the overall planning and implementation of OHRL’s programmatic efforts. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors, spending time with family, and creating wheel-thrown ceramics.
Residence Directors
Joe Pritchet, Residence Director (Little Building)
Joe, a native of Milton, Delaware, has a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelors degree in Anthropology from the University of Delaware. He serve as the Residence Director in the lower half of the Little Building, working with both freshman and upperclassmen in a variety of ways and supervises eleven resident assistants. He also serves as an instructor for the STAR Learning Community and adviser for the Little Building Hall Council. Some of his tasks with the OHRL also include Resident Assistant Selection, work with Learning Community and Faculty Involvement, and Housing Selection. While he was an undergraduate student he played rugby as an undergraduate and had the opportunity to tour Ireland and play a number of Irish teams during his junior year.
Caitlin Courtney, Residence Director (Little Building)
Caitlin, a native of Southampton, Massachusetts, has a Masters degree in Education Leadership and Inclusion from Utica College and a BS in Marketing and Business from Roger Williams University. She serves as the Residence Director for the upper half of the Little Building, managing the day to day operations of the building, supervising Resident Assistants, advising the Resident Hall council and supervising the building desk operations. In her free time she enjoys going to the beach, exploring Boston and playing sports.
Jonathan Kroll, Residence Director (Piano Row)
Jonathan, a native of Princeton Junction, New Jersey, has a Masters degree in University Administration from Miami University (OH), Bachelors degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from Quinnipiac University and is an ordained Interfaith Minister through the One Spirit Seminary. He is the Residence Director for the lower half of Piano Row, where he manages the day to day operations of the building, supervises Resident Assistants and advises the Living Green Learning Community. In his spare time he is working to create a Master’s degree granting university focusing on organizational development and leadership in Leon, Nicaragua.
Heather Trulock, Residence Director (Piano Row)
Heather, a native of Wanaque, NJ, has a Masters degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University and a Bachelors degree in Communication and Culture from Indiana University. She currently serves as a Residence Director for Piano Row Upper House, where she oversees the Film Immersion, Performing Cultures, and Writers Block learning communities and serves as the advisor to Piano Row Hall Council. She also supervises RA staff and participates in committees, chairing the committee on learning communities and faculty involvement and serving as a member of Emerson College’s Social Media board as well as OHRL’s sophomore student development committee.
CJ Krebs, Residence Director (Colonial)
CJ, a native of Prosser, Washington, has a Masters degree in Teaching from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelors degree in Communications from Washington State University. He is the Residence Director for the Colonial Building, where he manages the day to day operations of the building and supervises Resident Assistants.
Office Staff
Janel Burns, Office Manager
Janel, a Boston native by way of Hampton, Virginia, has a Bachelors degree in History from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She acts as the front office manager and provide support to the Office of Housing and Residence Life central office. In her spare time she enjoys interior design and decorating.
Grads
Danielle Mastronardi, Graduate Assistant for the Office of Student Conduct
Dee, a native of Cranston, Rhode Island, is currently working on her Masters degree in College Student Development and counseling at Northeastern University, she also has a BA in Public Relations from Quinnipiac University. She works in the Office of Student Conduct, serving as a hearing office here at Emerson. On a lighter note, Dee loves Donald Duck.
Jennifer St. Jean, Graduate Assistant for Residence Life
Jen, a native of Westerminster, Massachusetts, is currently working on her Masters degree in Counseling Psychology at Lesley University, she also has a BA in Psychology from UMass Lowell. She works to support the continual development of the reslife staff members, maintaining the electronic programming database, and assisting in the creation an execution of RA selection. On a lighter note, she starts everyday by choosing music and finding a quote from 30 Rock that makes her laugh.
Carrie Miller, Graduate Assistant for Housing Operations
Carrie, a native of Richmond, Virginia, is currently working on her Masters degree in College Student Development and Counseling at Northeastern University. She also has a Bachelors degree in Comparative Politics and History from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She assists the Associate Director of Housing Operations with various projects. Prior to moving to Boston, Carrie had never driven in the snow.
