Deactivation Rules for ECnet Accounts
The ECnet accounts and Pages folders of former students are maintained on Emerson College's servers for a minimum of six months after the last semester in which those students were registered. All ECmail and Pages folders of former students are permanently removed on a specified date and it is not possible to recover deleted e-mail or Pages documents after that date. Students who fall into this category are notified by e-mail several times to allow them to prepare for this change.
NOTE: If you have been notified that your ECnet account will be deleted, and you are still enrolled at Emerson or know of any other reason why your ECnet account and Pages folder should not be deleted, please contact the IT Help Desk immediately by emailing helpdesk@emerson.edu.
The Office of Alumni Relations offers a solution for e-mail address changes that makes it easy to keep in touch no matter what your e-mail address is. It's called "Forward for Life," and here's how it works:
Send an e-mail with "Forward for Life" in the subject line to alumni@emerson.edu. Include your name, graduation year, and the personal e-mail address that you would like to have your e-mail forwarded to, such as your new home or business e-mail address. Please be aware that you cannot set up a forward from your regular ECmail account, as that account will be eliminated. After your application has been processed, a pointer will be created for you with a username in the form of firstname_lastname@alumni.emerson.edu.
If you have a change of e-mail address in the future, just let the Office of Alumni Relations know where you want your pointer moved, and your forwarder will be set automatically to your new e-mail address. There's no need for you to notify anyone other than the Office of Alumni Relations that your e-mail address has changed. Please note that Forward for Life is a mail forwarder only; you must have a current non-Emerson e-mail address in order to receive e-mail. If you have any questions about Forward for Life or other matters related to the Office of Alumni Relations you may e-mail the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni@emerson.edu.
