Connecting to Pages

All Emerson Students, Staff, and Faculty Members have 250 MB of space on the Emerson Computing Network (ECnet) allocated to them. This space, referred to as Pages, is a personal Web publishing space and file storage space. Pages allows you to publish your files to the Web simply by copying them to your folder.

When you place a file titled index.html in your pages folder, the location of your web site will be in one of the following locations (Location is based on your status at Emerson College):

Students: http://pages.emerson.edu/students/y/your_username/
Faculty: http://pages.emerson.edu/faculty/y/your_username/
Staff: http://pages.emerson.edu/staff/y/your_username/

To connect to your Pages folder on a lab computer, double-click on the “My Pages Folder” icon on your desktop. Your Pages folder will then open on your desktop. To save a file to your Pages folder, simply drag and drop it into your Pages folder. Please note that Macintosh workstations will ask you to log in using your ECnet user name and password before retrieving your Pages folder. Files placed in the Private folder will not be viewable over the web.

If you plan to use Dreamweaver in the labs, consult the Macromedia Dreamweaver section of this document.
