Graduate Student Organizations
You are only at Emerson for a short amount of time but you should make the most out of your experiences here. One of the ways to do this is to get involved in campus activities.
Each program has a student organization whose main function is to provide additional support for professional development in your field. These range from readings, speakers, professional event etiquette, and networking. All students in a Graduate programs are members of that program’s organization. Plus each organization gets to choose an executive board to help coordinate activities and identify needs for that organization. Be a part of your Grad program. Get involved today.
Graduate Student Association
The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is the college wide organization for graduate students at Emerson. The GSA represents graduate students at the Graduate Council and sponsors events for all graduate students to help build a better community. The Graduate Council is consulted and advised by the Director of Graduate Studies
Another important function is overseeing the Professional Development Grants which are given to students who are participating in professional events such as presenting at conferences, showings at film festivals and/or similar activities. The guidelines are established each year so check the GSA section of the Graduate Studies website at the beginning of the semester.
The GSA is only as strong as the involvement of students. Every matriculated student is a member but the Executive Board of officers and representatives from the program groups are the main decision-makers.
Look for announcements about the election process early in the Fall.
