Welcome
Welcome to Emerson College from the Office of Graduate Studies. I am Donna Schroth, Director of Graduate Studies and I look forward to meeting all of you. I hope that your plans for joining us are progressing smoothly and that this is an exciting time for you. This site is a way for you to get information about the beginning of the school year as well as offering you a place to contact us with any questions or issues.
It should be an exciting year for all of us. You will be challenged academically, meet new friends and, I hope, use all of the resources of Emerson and the greater Boston area. Boston is the home of exciting visual and performing arts, literary events, historical locations and world-class museums. There are many distinct communities in the Greater Boston area to visit or live in. They range from the well-known Cambridge to the lively but less well-known Jamaica Plains. Every program offers campus speakers, lectures, symposia, internships and often access to conferences.
In the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) we want to help you from the time you arrive, as you progress toward your degree and as you graduate. We try and keep you updated on services and events through the web and e-mail. Individual programs have connections through alternative sites such as Facebook. Take advantage of our services and let us know what is going on with you (GradStudies@emerson.edu).
There are many ways to connect with other students and to develop connections that may last a lifetime. You may want to become an officer in your program’s student organization or an officer in the campus wide Graduate Student Association. This helps you meet students across the programs and gives you a voice in the future of Emerson’s graduate experience.
Again, welcome to Emerson. I look forward to meeting you at Orientation and at events throughout your time here.
Donna Schroth
Director of Graduate Studies
