The U.S. Student Program currently awards approximately 1,300 grants annually in all fields of study, and operates in more than 140 countries worldwide.
Application Deadline and Emerson Contact Information
The Emerson College deadline is September 21, 2009 for all grants for the 2010-2011 academic year. The application deadline for the 2009-2010 academic year has passed. Submit your application by the Emerson College deadline to the Emerson Fulbright Program Adviser (FPA).

How to Apply
The application form is available online from the Institute of International Education (IIE). You are given access to the application form once you have completed the Fulbright registration process. For your application to be considered, you must submit it both electronically and in hard copy. The completed application form, with five photocopies and all supporting materials (letters of recommendation; foreign language reports (if required); transcripts), are due on or before the Emerson College deadline. Letters of recommendation and all transcripts must be original. Fulbright does not accept faxed or emailed letters of recommendation.
Special Considerations
The National Screening Committee looks very closely at all application materials, specifically, the Statement of Proposed Study. Considerations include the nature of the project, its originality, the academic preparation for completing the project described, and any additional investigation the student has undertaken to ensure that resources to accomplish the project are available in the proposed host country. The screening committee also takes into account factors such as academic and professional achievement, demonstrated leadership potential, and community involvement. Successful grantees are expected to exhibit these and other related qualities that demonstrate their flexibility and aptitude for success in an unfamiliar environment abroad.
Candidates in the arts may need to provide supplementary documentation. Specifications regarding supplementary material are provided in the application form. These instructions should be followed closely, particularly with regard to numbers of slides to submit. If no specific instructions are provided for your particular field of study (e.g., electronic music), you are free to submit whatever material you feel is appropriate and best illustrates your abilities.

By drawing graduate students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, the PMF Program provides a continuing source of trained men and women to meet the future challenges of public service.

Rhodes Scholarship
Rhodes Scholars are elected for two years of study at the University of Oxford, with the possibility of renewal for a third year. All educational costs, such as matriculation, tuition, laboratory and certain other fees, are paid on the Scholar's behalf by the Rhodes Trustees. Each Scholar receives in addition a maintenance allowance adequate to meet necessary expenses for term-time and vacations. The Rhodes Trustees cover the necessary costs of travel to and from Oxford, and upon application, may approve additional grants for research purposes or study-related travel.
Intellectual distinction is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for election to a Rhodes Scholarship. Selection committees are charged to seek excellence in qualities of mind and in qualities of person, which, in combination, offer the promise of effective service to the world in the decades ahead. The Rhodes Scholarships, in short, are investments in individuals rather than in project proposals. Accordingly, applications are sought from talented students without restriction as to their field of academic specialization or career plans although the proposed course of study must be available at Oxford, and the applicant's undergraduate program must provide a sufficient basis for further study in the proposed field. Through the years, Rhodes Scholars have pursued studies in all of the varied fields available at the University of Oxford.
Application Deadline and Emerson Contact Information
Applications should be postmarked no later than October 1, 2008 for the 2009-2010 school year. All applicants must include an Institutional Endorsement, which can be completed by the Emerson College Rhodes contact person.
Director of Graduate Studies, Dr. Donna Schroth is the Rhodes Scholarship University Representative for Emerson College.
