
Deadlines and Application Information for Adult Degree Students
Financial assistance is processed on a rolling basis for students throughout the academic year. However, we strongly encourage students to submit their documents by the following deadlines in order to receive their financial assistance packages before bills for that semester are due.

2008-2009 Adult Degree Student Application Information
To apply for Federal Financial Assistance at Emerson College as an Adult Degree student, you must supply the required supporting documentation:
- 08-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (available online after January 1, 2008)
- 08-09 Emerson College Adult Degree Financial Assistance Application
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS TO SUBMIT IF YOU ARE SELECTED FOR VERIFICATION
- Household Verification Statement for Dependent Students or Household Verification Statement for Independent Students*
- Signed copies of student's 2007 federal tax returns, including all schedules. Students not filing federal taxes must complete a Student Non-Filer's Statement.
- For Dependent Students: Signed copies of parent(s)’s 2007 federal tax returns, including all schedules. Parents not filing federal taxes must complete a Parents’ Non-Filer's Statement.
- Business/Farm Supplement. The supplement is to be completed by families who derive/lose income from a business or farm. Please submit signed copies and all schedules along with the most recent federal tax return filed for the business or farm.
- Any other documentation requested by the Office of Student Financial Services.
Please note that International students are not eligible for federal financial aid. However,& international graduate students can receive alternative loan funds with a credit worthy U.S. Citizen or permanent resident co-borrower. For more information please see Applying for Loans.
* The Department of Education has set requirements for students to be considered independent. You must meet one of the following requirements to be considered independent:
- You were born before January 1, 1984
- At the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year, you will be working on a master’s degree or doctorate program.
- As of the date you complete the FAFSA, you are married.
- You have children who receive more than half their support from you.
- You have dependents other than a child/children or spouse who live with you and receive more than half their support from you.
- Both of your parents are deceased or (until the age of 18) you were a ward/dependent of the court.
- You are a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.
