Jeffrey OmariPart Time Faculty (2006) B.A., Morehouse College; J.D., University of Illinois Chicago native Jeffrey Omari (or simply 'Omari' as he's known by his friends) received his B.A. in Business/Marketing from Morehouse College and his J.D. from the University Of Illinois College Of Law. While in law school, Omari landed an internship in the legal department of the Atlanta-based record label, LaFace Records (the former home of the grammy award winning artists OutKast, Usher, TLC and Toni Braxton). Although he has always had a love for creativity and the arts, that experience sparked his passion to learn the business of music. After graduating from law school, Omari returned to Atlanta where he practiced music and entertainment law at The Lovette Consulting Group (a boutique entertainment firm) and worked in publishing administration at D.A.R.P. Music, Inc. (owned by the acclaimed music producer Dallas Austin). After spending five years in Atlanta, Omari moved to Los Angeles in February 2004 to further his career in entertainment law. Currently, he works as a consultant in the Music Legal department of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He has taught courses in Business Law, Trusts and Media Law, writes poetry, practices yoga and is an avid music and film junkie. |
