Scott CooperPart Time Faculty (2000) B.S., Massachusetts Institute of Technology; M.A., University of California, Los Angeles; C.Phil., University of California, Los Angeles; M.F.A., University of California, Los Angeles Scott is a graduate of M.I.T., having then done his graduate work in UCLA's Department of Film & Television, where he obtained an M.F.A. in Film Production and advanced to candidacy towards a Ph.D. in Film/TV Studies, researching the cultural politics of media representation during the pivotal two-term presidency of Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. His articles have appeared in Quarterly Review of Film and Video, Questions of Third Cinema, Third World Affairs, and Journal of Cinema and Television. His M.F.A.thesis film, The Right Choice, won a Silver Apple at the National Educational Film and Video Festival and appeared in thirteen film festivals overall. Scott has served on the Emerson L.A. faculty since January, 2001, making the long trek up to Burbank from Venice Beach, where he's lived now for over fourteen years. Scott teaches the Media Arts Seminar in "Film and Television in an Age of Anxiety." |
