Response Committee assembled to monitor flu
by Carrie Sheffield President Liebergott has convened a Flu Response Oversight Committee, led by Vice President for Administration and Finance David Ellis, which will meet regularly to monitor the College's policies, procedures, and practices regarding the H1N1 virus.
Free seasonal flu shot clinics will be held this year. Flu clinics will be open to faculty, staff, and students.
Updated campus information on clinics and other related resources will be posted on the Center for Health and Wellness webpage at emerson.edu/health_center and on eCommon.
When the vaccine(s) for seasonal flu and H1N1 become available, notices with clinic dates/times will be posted in the same fashion. Students who know they are at high-risk for contracting the flu are encouraged to notify the Center for Health and Wellness by email. The Center for Health and Wellness asks that students living in on–campus housing talk with their parents/family about having an alternate recuperation plan in place if they should catch the virus (returning home or staying with a nearby relative or friend). Emerson also encourages faculty and staff to stay home if they experience a flu-like illness, and recommends that one not return to campus until he or she has not had a fever of 100 degrees or more, without the aid of medication, for 24 hours.
