Emerson Stage
Emerson Stage is the producing organization of the Department of Performing Arts at Emerson College. The mission of Emerson Stage is:
To enhance the cultural life of Emerson College and the larger local community through the presentation of meaningful, diverse and multicultural programming that upholds high artistic standards and a commitment to open-minded cultural exchange.
Emerson Stage is modeled after a non-profit theatre company and is dedicated to the training of students to be stage managers, actors, designers, technicians, administrators and directors. The Emerson Stage staff are theatre professionals who work and teach in their areas of expertise.
NewFest, sponsored by Rod Parker, is an opportunity for playwrights to collaborate on a full production of his or her play. This year's winner is Kimberly Barrante's The Rubik's Cube. There will also be readings of Lindsay Soson's Wonder, George Watsky's Harold's Fall and Adam Patterson's Better Home Awaiting.
Audiences also benefit from the wide range of productions produced by Emerson Stage. This year we have planned an eclectic season of choices; you will find productions that will enliven and enlighten you, all performed in our three stunning theatres in the heart of Boston’s Theatre District, and all for the most affordable theatre ticket price in Boston!
This season includes musicals (Bat Boy and City of Angels), dance (X Dance), new plays and readings (NewFest 2008), theatre for young audiences (A Midsummer Night's Dream), and a wonderful variety of plays (Marat/Sade, Top Girls, The Shape of Things, The Philadelphia Story and Cloud Tectonics).
Come see Emerson students joined by top theatre professionals, working side by side, onstage and off, to bring these theatrical events to life.
