Sarah Lambert Gains a Global Marketing Perspective
Sarah Lambert explains why she chose the Global Marketing Communication & Advertising program over an MBA program and advertising programs — and how her program mixes business and creativity. (Filmed and edited by Emerson students.)
Q. Why did you choose Emerson?
I chose Emerson for its rigorous one year program and for the global focus of the degree.
Q. What do you love about your field/major?
I love that advertising is constantly changing. I enjoy the challenges that come with working on a global brand and being creative to reach new solutions.
Q. What do you like about Emerson?
I like Emerson's location, right in the heart of the city. Emerson has deep roots in the arts and communication which shows in all of its events, programs, and students. This combination creates an inspiring atmosphere in which to study.
Q. How does the Emerson community help you thrive as a student?
Emerson college helps its students by providing resources both on campus and from its alumni network.
Q. Describe a typical day or week.
A typical week consists of being in class four hours a day, four days a week. Before and after each class is spent in the library, so approximately a typical 8 hour work day spent on campus. Weekends leave time to explore the city and relax. If you can be diligent with your work, you can have a social life and make the most of the city.
Q. How have Emerson faculty helped you?
Emerson faculty have been tremendous in providing resources, advice, and information and steering my career path throughout the past year. They have real world experience that makes their lessons more valuable and complements the readings and lectures.
Q. How have you changed personally between your first day at Emerson and now?
I have grown into a more confident professional and have acquired marketing skills that will give me an edge in my future career. I also have great connections with my classmates that will last a lifetime.
Q. What do you hope to do with your Emerson degree?
I hope to work in an advertising agency in the Boston area in a creative or planning role.
Q. What advice would you give to an incoming Emerson student?
Take advantage of all the resources you have from your classmates, professors, and services that Emerson has provided. Also, take time to explore the city and meet new people. You'll need to take breaks during your nine months of studying to survive!
