Emerson Los Angeles
ELA Common Kitchen
There is no dining hall at ELA. The fall and spring housing cost includes Board Bucks, which students can use to buy meals at the Emerson Cafe on site or at neighborhood restaurants. Please note that there will be no refunds on unused board bucks.
There will be a common kitchen on the fifth floor for student use. The kitchen is equipped with induction cooktops, ovens, diswashers and microwaves.
YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN UTENSILS, INCLUDING POTS AND PANS, WHICH MUST BE COMPATIBLE WITH INDUCTION COOKTOPS*.
*Use this simple test: If a magnet sticks well to the bottom of the pan, it will work on an induction cooking surface.
Students who wish to cook meals should either pack these items or plan to buy kitchenware on arrival to Los Angeles. There will be 20 x 20 dry storage boxes in the kitchen to store these items—one box per suite, which can encompass 4–5 students sharing a box.
- Students should not leave anything out in the community kitchen area or it will be thrown away.
- Students should keep the area clean and wash their dishes.
Students can cook their own meals in the community kitchen
