Ellen was a Disney development executive for 13 years, working in series development, current programming, television specials, and both theatrical and direct-to-video films. She started as an intern and rose to Senior Vice President, heading the creative affairs group of DisneyToon Studios until 2006, when she left the company to immerse herself full time in screenwriting.
Ellen is a represented screenwriter with the Gersh Agency. One of her feature spec scripts, Candle, placed in the top 10% in the 2013 Nicholl Screenwriting Competition. She developed a one-hour supernatural teen drama series entitled Middlebrook with Dan Lin Productions and Warner Horizon Television. She is currently developing a horror series with producer Brian Gilbert entitled Postmortem, and has completed work on the feature script Sunrise in Memphis for Carol Burnett, based on a story by Carol's late daughter, Carrie Hamilton.
Ellen also heads up The Story Society, a script and story consulting company. She has served as a script analyst for screenplay contests, including the Nantucket Film Festival.
She is known as a creative mentor, and for her keen ability to produce successful results in concept creation, pitches, and scripts.
