Please note that all financial aid, including Emerson grants and scholarships will transfer to a fall or spring semester in Los Angeles. Currently there is no institutional aid for undergraduate students in summer programs.

Additional Expenses associated with the ELA program

  • Meal Service: The spring and fall housing cost includes $1800 in Board Bucks. There is no dining hall service at Emerson Los Angeles. Students will be able to use $1800 in board bucks at the Emerson Cafe, located in the complex, or at neighborhood restaurants. Students can also purchase groceries and cook meals in the common kitchen on the 5th floor. If students want to cook meals, they will have to purchase pots, pans, dishes, etc.
  • Travel Costs: Students are responsible for arranging their travel to/from Los Angeles.
  • Spending Money: For entertainment and personal travel. Costs vary by personal spending habits.
  • Car Rental: Most students will bring or rent a car for the term. Car rentals start around $600 per month, depending on the renter’s age and insurance requirements.
  • Auto Insurance: Students who drive in California are obligated to carry the minimum California State auto insurance requirement.
  • Health Insurance Coverage: MA and CA State Law require health insurance coverage. Participants in the ELA Program must have an insurance plan that provides coverage in California. If you feel your current insurance is not adequate, please research a plan that is. Please view the mandatory health requirements on this page.
