Violence Prevention and Response

Violence Prevention and Response works with students, employees, and community partners to lead comprehensive and innovative prevention strategies, foster a culture of courageous community responsibility and activism, and offer trauma-informed advocacy to shape an Emerson free of power-based interpersonal violence including sexual assault and harassment, stalking, and threats and abusive relationships and bullying.

We believe each and every one of us can make a difference in shaping the campus culture that we all want to be a part of, so there are a number of ways for students, staff and faculty to get involved with Violence Prevention and Response, including:

Interactive and engaging workshops

  • Power-based interpersonal violence

Confidential support for those impacted by power-based interpersonal violence

  • Supportive listening and counseling
  • Help requesting academic, living, and work accommodations on and off campus
  • Safety planning
  • Accompaniment to campus, legal, and medical appointments and meetings
  • Descriptions of Emerson College and local laws, policies and processes
  • Planning for self-care and next steps

Personal and Professional Development

  • Volunteer
  • Accomplish academic/professional goals (class projects, papers, performances, Capstones)
