Clinical Practice and Outreach Initiative
In honor of the Robbins Center’s 50th anniversary, a clinical practice and outreach initiative was launched. The purpose of this exciting new initiative is three-fold: to increase the Center’s outreach to the greater Boston community through education about speech, language and hearing problems; to increase subsidies for services at the Robbins Center so that no one is turned away for financial reasons; and to provide scholarship funds to recruit and retain top-quality graduate students.
Through the Outreach program in-services training is provided to staff at local agencies and health fairs, speech-language and hearing screenings are conducted and those children and adults identified in need of further testing or treatment are referred as appropriate
To date, monies have been raised through generous contributions from individuals, alumni and foundations. We are excited to have hired an Outreach Coordinator, Amy Litwack, MS, CCC-SLP, who will be making visits to the community to teach about prevention and treatment of speech, language and hearing problems, as well as market the Robbins Center’s services.
If you would like to learn more about this initiative, make a contribution or help us in our efforts, please contact Amy_Litwack@Emerson.edu. We are so excited to be able to create these new programs, most especially scholarship funs for graduate students!
