About the American Comedy Archives
The mission of the American Comedy Archives at Emerson College is to explore the nature of comedy as an American art form by collecting, maintaining, and making accessible primary source material related to the study and appreciation of comedy.
The project was conceived by Emerson alumnus Bill Dana, who has had a distinguished career in comedy. Dana and Jenni Matz are conducting oral history interviews with leading figures in the history and development of American comedy. These interviews, along with papers and other collectibles, will form the core of the Archives collection. The project was launched in February of 2005 and is still in a development stage.
